As a Senior Benefits Analyst, you will serve as a technical expert in group benefits consulting, providing comprehensive support in the design, financial management, and ongoing servicing of existing clients and prospects.
Working closely with internal consulting teams, you will interface with vendors, support client deliverables, and uphold Purves Redmond’s high standards of service quality.
This role involves a combination of analytical, client-facing, and administrative tasks, requiring a deep understanding of employee benefits and strong attention to detail.
Accountabilities :
- Assess, analyze, and negotiate group renewals; prepare reports and presentations for clients
- Conduct market analysis, including preparation and submission of specifications, analysis, cost comparison and producing detailed client reports
- Review, prepare and peer-review analysis of regular reporting, benefits summaries, process amendments, and employee presentations and communications
- Peer review contracts, booklets, and collective agreements to identify potential exposures or discrepancies
- Oversee, prepare and review mater applications and other documentation for new sales submissions; ensure a seamless implementation process that meets deadlines and addresses client inquiries
- Ensure a smooth transition of benefits between carriers, mitigating client risks and exposures, including plan mapping, communications and member coverage
- Price and analyze costings, and alternative funding arrangements to ensure optimal costings for clients
- Investigate and assist in resolving ad-hoc claims and coverage issues for clients as they arise
- Contribute to specific projects, initiatives and research as needed
- Foster strong relationships with clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality service
The ideal candidate meets the following requirements :
- 3-5 years of combined experience in employee benefits within a consulting, brokerage, or group underwriting environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Commitment to professional development, staying up-to-date on industry trends, market conditions and legislative changes affecting health and welfare plans across Canada
- Active Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) and / or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation are assets
- Experience using an insurance management tool (EPIC) is an asset
