Manulife is looking for a Director, Strategy and Reporting to join the Global Data Technology (GDT) team. The incumbent brings analytical thinking and a desire to learn and enable the execution of how data technology at is modernizing Manulife.
The position is well-suited for someone who enjoys change, adapts quickly and able to navigate independently through complex processes.
The position will be in the Toronto office.
Reporting to the AVP, Strategy, part of the GDT team, you’ll join a forward-thinking team of dedicated, engaged and successful professionals focused on working together, challenging the status quo and owning our future.
This role will support the delivery of GDT’s strategy objectives and will be a key member Global Data Strategy, Planning, and Business Management team.
On a day-to-day basis you will be involved in the following :
- Support the execution of the Global Data strategy through providing clarity into progress on strategic objectives in various formats and forums
- Drive the improvement of end-to-end data delivery process (Moving Data Faster initiative) and provide key insights and recommendations
- Lead a small offshore team to drive the reporting and maintenance of data and metrics; work with cross-functional teams to operationalize and maintain a comprehensive set of strategic and operations and performance metrics used to measure the success of our transformation and delivery
- Provide data analysis and insights on key performance metric indicators to ensure alignment to our strategy and provide recommendation on next best actions
- Development of key management reports and Point-of-View’s on technology trends and fostering a best-in-class data strategy
- Support the learning and development approach and execution for GDT team members by working closely with internal teams and vendors
- Redesign the GDT communications strategy and execution across teams, optimize our communications process using internal communications assets and leadership messaging for internal and external collaborators
- Champion Global Data people engagement strategy design and execution, including the planning and implementation of global town halls, off-sites, team building workshops, conferences, etc.
You are someone who is / has :
- Demonstrated 5-7 years’ professional experience in strategy, operating models, process engineering, enterprise organizational change management, training, analytics transformations, and data management including a post-secondary degree and or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent program;
- Proficient solid understanding of modern data and cloud technologies (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS)
- High level of proficiency with MS PowerPoint, Excel (required), PowerBI (preferred), Co-Pilot (preferred)
- Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint and Viva Engage
- Experience integrating business and technology teams
- Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts into business- and value-focused language.
A key requirement is to communicate clearly and consistently keeping collaborators well-informed of progress and challenges
- Enthusiastic about people development, including team engagements, training and development
- Advanced data, change management, project management (agile and waterfall), talent and training strategy and analytical skills for a variety of tasks or projects
- Experienced in working with non-local team members from other global regions
- Remains current with emerging technologies such as Generative Artificial Intelligence, innovations and practices within the data and analytics industry;
- Must be willing to collaborate with teams in Asia in corresponding time zone;
- An interest in assisting with administrative and reporting tasks is an asset.

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location
Toronto, Ontario
Salary range is expected to be between
$107,730.00 CAD - $200,070.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education / training.
