Job Summary :
CSA Group has an immediate opportunity for a based in Toronto. The candidate will be responsible for developing Emerging Technology Standards in the space of Information Communications Technology.
In this challenging and rewarding role, you will facilitate the development of leading-edge standards solutions by enabling technical discussions and promoting consensus amongst key stakeholders.
Keeping abreast of current market trends, you will assess and qualify new business opportunities for ICT-based standards solutions.
You will identify and interact with industry experts, manufacturers, academia, researchers, scientists and government officials associated with your standard development and business development activities.
CSA Group standards are developed by volunteer members through an accredited process. The standards are used by a broad base of stakeholders to help enhance safety, security and sustainability for people and businesses.
CSA’s ICT standards team manages a diverse portfolio of standards and guidelines in emerging fields of ICT such as Intelligent Buildings, Smart Manufacturing, Cybersecurity, Quantum, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, and Digital Twin and their application across a variety of sectoral domains.
Much of the team’s work directly supports national and international priorities.
Responsibilities :
Identify, secure, and manage business growth in new areas for standardization
- Facilitating the development of standards solutions by CSA Group volunteer committee members in emerging fields of ICT;
- Establishing and actively managing project processes and schedules, resource requirements (eg. funding, personnel, membership), costs, quality and risk;
- Day-to-day management of committee activities, delivering on project milestones and revenue targets;
- Convening in-person and virtual committee meetings;
Maintaining and expanding relationships with external partners and clients to increase their awareness and active support of CSA’s work in the area of ICT and systems
Liaising with internal and external partners including clients, management, legal and finance to develop proposals, contracts, and financial analyses for new projects;
Participating on occasional ad-hoc internal task groups (eg. related to business or process improvement, research, etc.); and
Other related responsibilities.
This role emphasizes dynamic leadership, management, and business development and soft skills; including the ability to speak to complex subjects as a credible informed professional.
In addition, this dynamic role requires a sound understanding of the various processes and procedures of CSA Group, many of which are mandated under the accreditation by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
A key element of the Project Manager role is to ensure that these processes and procedures are adhered to, and that project timelines are achieved within the defined budget.
Education and Experience :
A technical degree in an engineering discipline or related area of study. Electrical / electronics or mechanical discipline would be an asset.
Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience, including 3-5 years of experience in the design / manufacturing / implementation of products and services in a relevant ICT field.
Acquired knowledge of the standards’ industry, government policy, regulatory environment, industry landscape and funding programs / models would be an asset.
Experience working with volunteers and / or multi-stakeholder groups would be an asset.
Skills :

Ability to successfully negotiate with stakeholders in challenging and demanding situations.
Proficiency in oral and written communication, including experience and comfort with delivering presentations and with writing technical documents, proposals and business plans.

Travel :
Some travel will be required
