Role Responsibilities

  • Support the development of AHIMT capabilities in Alberta, focused on continuous and iterative improvement.
  • Develop and deliver progressive training to formed groups (AHIMTs) and municipal, First Nation and Métis Settlement ICP / ECC staffs) with the intent of building confirmed / validated / accredited incident management depth and capability across the province.
  • Develop and prepare teams to perform incident management tasks.
  • Provide direct emergency management support and advice.
  • Assist local governments with the development of all-hazard specific emergency management training.
  • Respond and deploy to emergency and disaster incidents, providing expert advice and support to local authorities.
  • Prepare to perform duties in multiple days and nights away from home during planned routine activities and during unplanned emergency events.

To be successful in this position you will demonstrate :

  • Strong time management and decision making skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to operate all-wheel drive vehicles in all road conditions.
  • Ability to operate AEMA's Major Event Support Apparatus (MESA) vehicle.
  • Strong knowledge of the MS Office Suite of applications.
  • Ability to analyze information and develop reports that evaluate risk and vulnerability from hazards.
  • Ability to read and interpret hazard analysis maps and reports.
