The Director of Training and Onboarding will be instrumental in developing and implementing comprehensive training systems and onboarding processes.

This role is critical in fostering a culture of continuous learning and development across both engineering and non-engineering roles within the Candu business unit.

Location : Mississauga, ON.

Your role within the team :

  • Spearhead the creation of a continuous learning environment that aligns with the strategic objectives of the Candu business unit and the broader organization.
  • Design and implement systems to effectively track and manage employee training and onboarding.
  • Develop a role-based training matrix to ensure all employees receive the necessary training specific to their roles within the company.
  • Collaborate with department leaders, resource managers and project leaders to identify and address training needs and gaps in skills across the company.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of training content, ensuring it meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the training budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maximize employee development and retention.
  • Lead a team of professionals, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, making data-driven decisions to improve and innovate training initiatives.
  • Ensure that all training and development activities are in compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
  • Design onboarding curriculum to ensure effective and efficient use of training time to get new employees into role and up to speed in a positive and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate :

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree.
  • 7-10 years minimum experience in nuclear project execution, engineering design, project management, nuclear quality programs particularly within the nuclear energy sector or a related industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful training programs and systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on engaging and inspiring employees.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align training initiatives with business goals.
  • Proficient in the use of training management software and e-learning platforms.
