JOB DESCRIPTION
The Distribution Centre (DC) Operations Supervisor supports the overall DC financial plan by ensuring orders are completed accurately, safely and on time to ensure timely delivery to our customers.
This role will also work to support ongoing continuous process improvement. Shift time 4 : 30pm to 1 : 00 am.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Reporting to the Associate Operations Manager (AOM), ensures all hourly employees have the tools and training required to complete work tasks safely, following H&S best practices and protocols.
- Supervises hourly warehouse associates on achieving daily performance requirements.
- Recognize and reward employees for safe work practices and when achieving / exceeding performance metrics.
- Promotes continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Administers policy and procedure within legal guidelines. Coaches work group to adapt to new ways of performing work to include understanding of contract, legal ramifications of our policies, government regulations, safety standards, and consistently adhering to and administering policy and procedures.
- Administers performance management in consultation with AOM and Director of Operations .
- Builds and maintains a strong working relationship with the union through knowledge and understanding of the Collective agreement and communication.
- Provides input into projected plans. Uses cost factors to effectively make sound decisions as well as identifying gaps.
- Manages production work flow. Utilize multi-warehouse systems to predict and direct work flow. Understands how all tasks are impacted by decisions to redirect workflow.
- Participates in the setting of objectives and strategies along with daily tactical planning, budgeting and workforce requirements.
- Schedules work for the daily activities of the work groups to maximize available resources.
- Acts as back-up to the AOM.
SKILL, ABILITY & EXPERIENCE
- University / College degree with a focus on Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or similar technical area of focus.
- 2 years leadership experience with a Degree or 3 to 5 years leadership work experience
- Demonstrates an understanding of the order fulfillment process, collective bargaining agreement, HR policies & procedures.
- Ability to adapt to and work in a variety of situations to support the organizational goals.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
- Primarily works in a unionized, warehouse environment with exposures to conveyor noise, power equipment and dust.
- Must wear safety shoes and adhere to all Health & Safety practices.
- Minimal physical effort is required.
- Walking and standing on concrete floors is considerable.
- Numerous time constraints exist in order to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
- Late hours and overtime is required as needed, with occasional weekend work.
- There is a possibility of working on day shift depending on the business needs.
