What you can expect from this position :

Reporting to the Manager, AVOP Program, this role is responsible for overnight activities, coordination and administration of the AVOP Program.

As a Coordinator, AVOP, you will :

  • Review of AVOP correspondences within RAPs 2.0 verify responses and ensure communication is sent to signing authorities
  • Oversee and follow up with internal and external signing authorities regarding infractions and subsequent suspensions
  • Build follow-up communication and maintaining documentation on individual’s infraction history
  • Coordinate with Airside Safety Officers in regard to incident reports, infractions issued, clarification for appeals and questions related to airside safety
  • Develop AVOP related processes and procedures to support the program.
  • Provide guidance to all AVOP holders and signing authorities as it relates to Airport Traffic Directives, procedures and terms and conditions
  • Analyze infraction related data as well as data related to the program oversight and health.
  • Monitor infraction trends based on organizations and internal to the GTAA to identify areas or companies of concern
  • Maintain and issue call signs for all vehicles that operate on the maneuvering area at Toronto Pearson International Airport
  • Draft routine correspondence for the Manager, Airside Vehicle Operator Program such as memos, letters, notices, directives and advisories.
  • Assist with validating information related to monthly AVOP Chargebacks and delivering training for AVOP presentations to Airport tenants
  • Establish and maintain a Bring Forward System to follow up on correspondence and reports to ensure that they are completed within established time frames
  • Administer AVOP written examinations

This unionized position has an hourly wage of $, based on a 37.5 hour work week. The successful candidate must be available to commence the duties of the position once a selection decision has been made.

A test will be administered as a part of the competitive process.

Candidates with relevant external experience must provide references with their applications in order to confirm this experience.

This is the role for you, if you have :

  • Secondary school or combination of aviation related experience
  • 3 years’ experience working with regulations in a regulated aviation operation environment
  • 5 years of experience in airport operations or airline operations
  • Understanding of TP312, CARs and Airport Traffic Regulations
  • Possess an AVOP permit, with a clean AVOP history
  • Possess a valid Provincial Driver’s License (class G)
  • Obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

Knowledge and skills you bring, that set-you up for success :

  • Knowledge of Pearson International Airport layout of the aprons, taxiways and runways; runway combinations used by Air Traffic Control and airside activities
  • Knowledge of aircraft, airline, and airport operating procedures
  • Ability to collaborate closely, both verbally and in writing, with all agencies as well as senior GTAA management
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word to compile written documents and reports, Microsoft Excel to build and generate reports as required and Microsoft Power Point to develop presentation material
  • Maintaining knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations, Standards, Recommended Practices and Procedures related to airports, aircraft and aircraft ground handling equipment (TP312)
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of other organizations
  • Ability to represent the GTAA in a professional manner at external forums including the ability to answer questions and act as a Subject Matter Expert as it relates to the Airport Traffic Directives
  • Maintain a current knowledge of the Airport Traffic Directives and Airside Safety Officer programs, issues and priorities, and how each relates to the other Departments within the GTAA organization and to the Airport Community
  • Ability to analyze operational situations and make decisions in regard to appeals
