What you will do :
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Program Planning the Research Assistant (RA) role will support Humber’s recognition of prior learning initiatives.
The RA will be responsible for the collection, organization, analysis and visualization of data and discipline-specific information related to recognition of prior learning.
They will also be responsible for synthesizing the results of their research and communicating key findings to the Associate Dean.
The incumbent is accountable for providing data-informed reports and guidelines to ensure the efficient and effective execution of new RPL processes for Humber's academic Faculties.
This includes being responsible for :
- Using various search engines to locate data and information relevant to the projects.
- Conducting best practice reviews and summarizing literature
- Collecting and analyzing data using basic statistical techniques such as means and frequencies
- Using Microsoft Office applications to develop presentations and visualizations.
- Collaborating with project team members to develop and administer surveys
- Attending project meetings
Qualifications
What you bring to the role :
Education
Undergraduate degree,preferably inthe SocialSciences(e.g. Sociology, Psychology) or Education
Experience & Skills
Three (3) to five (5) years of relevantworking experience as a research assistant or related role with experience in writing literature reviews, mining data and information, developing presentations, writing detailed and concise summaries, analyzing data using means and frequencies, and developing survey questions.
Familiarity with recognition of prior learning framework and practices in higher education is an asset.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); experience with MS Access and SPSS considered an asset.
- Experience with interview and survey design, testing and implementation.
- Advanced written, communication and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Previous research experience is considered an asset.
- Experience with internet or library searches considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Detail oriented with respect to quality and accuracy.
- Capable of working independently, while being a collaborative member of the team.
