JOB SUMMARY :

The Director of Campus Operations - Vaughan serves as an administrative leader of the University and oversees all campus operations in Vaughan, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

  • Serve as an advisor to the Vice President of Administration for Ontario on matters related to university operations and facility management.
  • Responsible for all campus operations, including administration, safety, and maintenance. Oversee essential functions related to the Vaughan campus operations.
  • Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated;

identifies opportunities for improvement.

  • Considered Essential Personnel whose physical presence is required on campus and must be prepared to address those functions remotely (from off-campus) as needed when operations are restricted, or the campus is closed.
  • Provide forward planning, management, oversight, coordination, and implementation of activities and processes required to keep the University campus in a safe and operable condition while striving for excellence.
  • Assist with the research, development and planning for short- and long-range campus projects.
  • Review performance and development of subordinates annually to ensure goals / objectives of each area are consistent with the strategic direction and plan of the University.
  • Ensure the financial stability of the University, including compliance with best business practices in setting priorities for effective management of institutional resources through priority-based budgeting, and compliance with best practices in investment, finance and auditing.
  • Provide leadership to complement and develop the mission and long-term objectives of the University.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to financial data, human resources, student and employee personal information, etc.

Any violation shall subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

  • Reviews, analyzes and evaluates campus procedures.
  • Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
  • Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and assists in forecasting budgets to achieve financial objectives.
  • Development, coordination, and oversight of communication to students, staff, faculty on campus. Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to campus staff and faculty;

for major changes, meets with entire staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.

  • Projects a positive image of the university to students, families, staff and faculty and the community.
  • All Marketing Communications creative agencies (vendors of record) - aligned with the production of all promotional materials;

oversight of all promotional events; campaigns; website; social media campaigns, etc.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Administration for Ontario.

80% Oversight of assigned business operations.

20% Projects assigned by the Vice President of Administration for Ontario.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • A demonstrated record of successful administrative leadership and vision in higher education, preferably within a private university setting.
  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in higher education and business operations.
  • Strong knowledge of trends in higher education.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • The skill and willingness to work collaboratively and effectively with the Vice President of Administration for Ontario as well as all the members of the President's Cabinet, senior leadership, deans and the University community.
  • The ability to represent the University to external constituencies, especially within the context of institutional development, should be adept at communicating the academic accomplishments, goals and visions of the University to the public
  • A demonstrated commitment to values consistent with the Catholic and Vincentian traditions of the University.
  • Effective communication, excellent writing, and interpersonal skills; the ability to build consensus; a persuasive personality to serve as an advocate of the University and before a variety of external constituencies.
  • Openness, accessibility, and responsiveness to the ideas of others.
  • A practical and decisive manner with the courage to make difficult and timely decisions as appropriate and necessary.
  • A record of exemplary personal and professional integrity.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills.
  • Strong work ethic and unquestioned personal integrity.
  • Strong informational technology aptitude and skill set.

ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS :

The functions of the position are usually performed sitting but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required.

Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, computer software applications, and calculator, involve extensive wrist and hand movement.

All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions listed above.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS :

  • Master's degree or equivalent professional certification required.
  • A minimum of five years professional / management experience in positions of increasing responsibility and a proven record of success with demonstrated problem solving ability, strong interpersonal skills and an unblemished record of personal and professional integrity.
  • A valid Canadian driver's license is required that satisfies both University and insurance company underwriting rules and regulations for driving a motor vehicle.

Must also be able to operate a motor vehicle in Canada.
