Job Title : Chief Estimator

About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Chief Estimator with a strategic mindset and deep industry knowledge to lead our Xlient's estimating team in Edmonton.
As part of a dynamic General Contractor, you’ll oversee estimating for commercial, institutional, and light industrial projects, ensuring accurate costing and competitive bids that align with our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the estimating team, ensuring all projects are costed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
- Develop detailed project cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor bids.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to assess project requirements, risks, and timelines.
- Oversee the pre-construction phase, offering insights and identifying opportunities to improve project cost efficiency and feasibility.
- Review project specifications and drawings, ensuring a thorough understanding of all requirements.
- Prepare bid proposals, conceptual budgets, and cost analysis reports.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, material prices, and other factors that impact project costs.
- Implement and maintain estimating procedures, ensuring consistent best practices across the department.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of estimating experience in commercial, institutional, and light industrial projects.
- Proven experience working with a general contractor.
- Strong proficiency with industry-standard estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage, Bluebeam).
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities, with a focus on team development and collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
