Department : Laboratory Services
Status : Permanent Full-Time
Site : The Michener Institute
Salary : $45, - $57,
Hours : 35 hours per week

Position Summary :
- Supplying materials required for laboratory exercises
- Procuring, preparing, pretesting and labeling specimens, reagents and slides
- Assisting the continuing education department with lab set-up and requirements
- Participating in biological and chemical safety by providing spill response & following Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) procedures and regulations
- Perform phlebotomy as required
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Additional duties as required
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of related experience and certification with the Medical Laboratory Professionals' Association of Ontario (MLPAO) and / or College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) roster registration required
- Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) preferred
- Sound problem solving and organizational skills
- Experience in Chemistry, Microbiology, Genetics or Research preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills
- Computer proficiency; specifically, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Familiarity with lab analyzers (ACL,AcT5, AU, Virto’s, Spectrophotometer, Vitek, will be an asset)
