Position Description
The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University invites applications for a teaching-track position in the Strategic Management Area to be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The position will commence on July 1, 2024.
The successful candidate must have (or be very near completion of) a Ph.D. in Business Administration or related discipline from a reputable institution by the time of the appointment.
They will possess excellent teaching, classroom, and service skills. The successful candidate must have outstanding teaching and / or work-related expertise in the area of strategic management broadly defined.
This includes a strong demonstrated ability to integrate both theory and practice, evidence of effective communication and presentation skills, a willingness and ability to undertake student supervision, and a demonstrated mastery of their subject area.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated by teaching accomplishments and / or awards, strong letters of reference, the teaching dossier, and for short-listed candidates, an outstanding performance during the on-campus seminar presentation.
The Strategic Management Area is committed to excellence in teaching and boasts several award-winning instructors. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to DeGroote’s academic programs at both its Hamilton and Burlington locations.
They will be expected to teach courses in the area of Strategic Management, International Business, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, or Business Government and the Global Environment in the undergraduate and / or MBA level and must have teaching experience with the case method.
They may be asked to teach or develop other courses within the field of Strategic Management in our undergraduate and graduate programs, including MBA and / or EMBA.
The teaching requirement is normally eight sections per academic year including multiple sections of the same course as appropriate.
They will also be expected to support the School’s initiatives within the business and other external communities and provide service to Area, Faculty and University-wide committees.

The Department will request letters of recommendation from referees at later stages of the search process .
