In a world where the energy transition is becoming increasingly important, the Engineer will be called upon to play an active role in clean energy projects related to hydroelectric facilities.
Our Protection and Control (P&C) team is looking for people to assist us in carrying out engineering for various multidisciplinary mandates, such as the refurbishment of turbine-generator sets, electrical and mechanical auxiliary services, and automation in Hydro-Québec power plants.
You will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and able to develop your skills by collaborating with experienced professionals, and will be offered opportunities to participate in internal and external training.
We offer a flexible hybrid work model, enabling you to work from home and from one of our offices. You can be based out of one of our offices in the Eastern Townships (Sherbrooke, Granby), Greater Montreal Area (Montréal, Longueuil) or Saguenay regions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare Control and Protection engineering for the following systems and equipment :
- Control, measurement, monitoring and protection systems for the turbine-generator set;
- Genset instrumentation : analog instrumentation cabinet or digital systems;
- Computerized power plant control network;
- Interface with speed controller, pump unit and static excitation;
- Remote control of discharge valves and water intakes;
- Control of mechanical auxiliary systems (air, water, oil).
- Development of electrical systems for control and protection, including single-line, three-line AC, protection and control diagrams, as well as drawings of wiring, device connections, assembly drawings, material lists and cable lists.
- Development of DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, battery capacity calculations, and connection drawings for chargers, batteries, inverters, etc.
- Drawing up specifications for equipment manufacture and installation on site.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the execution of technical tasks.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and design reviews.
- Coordinate work with other engineering disciplines involved in projects, such as electrical, structural, civil, auxiliary mechanical, heavy mechanical, building and architectural engineering.
- Participate in site surveys
- Possibility of providing site assistance and start-up services
Qualifications
- University Degree in electrical engineering
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- More than seven (7) years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of electrical distribution, control and protection
- Basic knowledge of the Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Fluency in spoken and written French
- Fluency in written and spoken English in a professional context to ensure communications on certain projects at national level
- Autonomous, resourceful and project-oriented
