As a Senior Wildlife Biologist , you will act as a leading expert in Canada, with capacity to conduct work in various jurisdictions across the country, primarily in western and northern Canada .
This position will focus on power, energy and renewables wildlife regulatory compliance in Western Canada , and will include oversight of field surveys, ecological assessments, and mitigation planning for ERM projects in our growing power and diversified energy sectors.
The successful applicant will have experience with environmental effects analysis; offset / compensation planning; and mitigation development, application, and adaptation.
More broadly, the applicant must show an interest in applying knowledge and skills to help our clients solve complex challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Prepare proposals, including development of scopes and cost estimates, and participate in business development with existing clients.
- Technical leadership of multiple projects within scope / budget / schedule expectations; ensuring quality standards on project deliverables and timely delivery of reports.
- Lead wildlife scopes of EAs / EISs, permit applications and associated management plans, environmental constraints analysis;
and develop plans to support construction implementation for power, renewables and energy projects across Canada.
- Actively contribute to ERM's multi-disciplinary technical community and collaborate with other ERM global practitioners to execute projects.
- Initiate and oversee project delivery activities including, but not limited to : field surveys, literature reviews, report writing, and developing recommendations for clients.
- Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, landowners, Indigenous communities, and clients during field activities, as required.
REQUIREMENTS :
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in Biological Sciences, or related field.
- Professional accreditation in Alberta and British Columbia is an asset.
- 15+ years of environmental consulting experience, specifically in the power, renewables and energy sector in western Canada.
- Extensive Environmental Assessment experience with federal, provincial and territorial regulations and guidelines pertaining to survey methodologies and environmental assessments in Western Canada.
- Well-developed influencing skills; unquestionable integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges.
- Statistical analysis skills are an asset.
- Ability to lead, coach, and mentor a diverse project team of wildlife biologists, vegetation biologists, statisticians, GIS technicians, and field personnel.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills; practiced in prioritizing and meeting deadlines in a demanding work environment.
- Demonstrate ERM values and become a safety ambassador.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
