com, 12831 Horseshoe Way, Richmond, BC V7A 4X5 Overview The Loss Prevention Investigator will be responsible for conducting investigations including internal integrity issues, claims, information privacy, loss of inventory, organized retail crime or serious financial crime.
They will ensure compliance to security standards and regulations and conduct investigations in a professional, legal, ethical, and efficient manner. Essential Duties
Key responsibilities will include :
- Protect all company assets and reduce losses.
- Investigate unlawful acts of employees or patrons of company locations.
- Recommend security systems such as electronic detection devices and access devices.
- Obtain information for use in civil and criminal litigation matters or for other purposes.
- Plan and lead efficient investigations using team resources and equipment in a safe, legal, and ethical manner while following company policy and procedures.
This may require collaboration with Area Loss Prevention to accomplish department directives.
- Maintain Investigations records, ensuring all reports and files are completed to company standard and within policy.
- Maintain confidentiality of any issues related to the company or loss prevention department.
- Participate in the development and completion of Loss Prevention audits to detect internal losses, Organized Retail Crime activity, and policy and procedure breakdowns.
- Travel to any company location or on behalf of company to industry events when required.
- Be cognizant of and report incidents which could adversely affect the morale of employees.
- Attend, and train others on requirements for attending court and legal proceedings; provide testimony as directed or requested by the Courts.
- Report any policy breaches, procedural errors, or performance issues to Loss Prevention management immediately.
- Meet company, team, and individual goals and expectations for performance and quality of work for all duties as assigned by Investigations Management, or Assistant General Manager of Loss Prevention.
Skills Requirements
- A minimum of two years of loss prevention or related security industry experience or related retail experience.
- Experience (one years preferred) in leading and completing complex internal investigations within Company and industry standards.
- Education specific to role such as criminology, emergency management, justice or security management, or audit.
- Completion of Advanced Interviewing skills training (ie. Wicklander-Zulawski, PEACE), with experience (two years preferred) conducting a variety of advanced structured interviews.
- Knowledge of intrusion systems, fire alarm systems, video surveillance, access and key control, asset tracking, and perimeter protection.
- Advanced understanding of field interviews and case building in various areas.
- Minimum of one year experience with advanced knowledge of investigative techniques, interviewing methods, and rules of evidence as they pertain to criminal civil investigations.
- Ability to obtain a Novice or Full Class 5 Driver License within the province of British Columbia and have full access to a motor vehicle within 6 weeks of hire date.
- Able to obtain a BC Security License. This will include the Registrar conducting criminal record, police information and correctional service record checks.
- English language fluency for Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
