Overview ofthe Role
Reporting to the Vice PresidentAcademic, the AVP Academic Quality & Operational Excellence is abusiness unit leader that provides agile strategic academic and administrativeleadership to achieve the Academic Plan and The NAIT Effect objectives inalignment with NAIT's Vision, Promises and Values.
As a senior member of the AcademicLeadership Team, the AVP Academic Quality & Operational Excellencecontributes to the overall leadership of the Institute through participation inthe development of academic and business plans, academic strategy, financialplans, and performance objectives.
The AVP sets the strategic direction andprovides key services for the academic portfolio in program quality (includinglearning technology and program evaluation), academic foundations, academicoperations (including centralized management of WIL, current student andindustry events coordination, program administration and scheduling), and theoffice of apprenticeship.
Key Accountabilities :
External Accountabilities
Drives and advancesrelationships with other institutes to create and collaborate on partnershipinitiatives
Drives and advances effectiverelationships with local, regional, and provincial governments to advance theportfolio's initiatives
Internal Accountabilities :
Provides visionary leadershipto the portfolio to cultivate a culture of innovation in operational excellenceand sound academic quality practices
Advances collaborativerelationships across NAIT to achieve consistency and equitability in supportsfor students and internal partners
Maintains oversight forcentralized services and setting strategic direction within the portfolio
Develops and manages theportfolio's overall budget and provides strategic oversight of portfolioadministrative functions
Provides mentorship andleadership guidance to others as part of succession planning

TheIdeal Candidate
Alongwith excellent communication skills, sound knowledge of academic andadministrative leadership functions in a post-secondary environment;
and astrong desire to develop others, success in this role requires an understandingof a wide range of issues including sound knowledge of educational, humanresource, and quality management theory and practices as well as planningmethodologies, business administration, researching methods and financialmanagement principles practices.
Qualifications :
Undergraduate degree, graduate degree preferred
Recent experience in a senior leadership role within a complexorganization leading a large, high-functioning team.
Leadership experience within an academic institution
Equivalent sum of relevant education and experienceconsidered.
International and national travel may be required and extendedworking days are required during peak periods
Remuneration : $ 178,438.78- $236,409.16 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
