Job Title : Lead Software Developer (DB)
Location : Richmond Hill, ON (Hybrid : Tues, Wed. & Thurs.)
The Opportunity :
This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Software Developer to work on a variety of Cyber Security and Data Protection projects that process and provide data for end users and in house threat research web-based applications / APIs.
This role provides a lot of technical creativity, and an opportunity to embrace the latest technologies to create efficient, and highly scalable solutions, using the best-fit stack for each requirement.
As well as our main MSSQL systems, candidates will have the opportunity to work with and learn exciting Amazon Web Services based relational and NoSQL databases for 'Big Data'.
What You Are Great At :
- Designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable data stores.
- Leading projects in terms of architecture and planning of data storage / retrieval systems.
- Working side by side with the Software Development Team in ensuring best practices are followed for data security.
- Ensuring the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of data stores.
- Helping maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
- Mentoring of other developers.
- Proactively recommending and leading improvements to the Full Development Lifecycle.
What it takes to excel :
- 7+ Years experience in designing and implementing data stores
- Very strong in TSQL / SQL
- Extensive experience creating Indexes, Stored Procedures, Views, and Triggers (TSQL)
- In-depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and data security.
- Advanced analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- An aptitude to learn new technology quickly
- The capacity to mentor team members
- The ability to handle multiple streams of work effectively
- Familiar with using Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM and Kanban
- Proficient understanding of code source control versioning tools
Other Desired Qualifications / Experience :
- Worked with very high load APIs and applications
- Experience of 'Big Data' stores (HIVE, Presto, ElasticSearch)
- Knowledge and experience in .Net (C#)
