Horizon Recruitment Inc. has an immediate need for a Contracts Specialist to join our junior mining clients project team for a 12-month contract position.

This role will manage vendor contracts associated with early-stage exploration and feasibility studies for a portfolio of projects with this new project team.

Although initially a 12 month contract this portfolio is expected to progress to construction in one of more sites and is very likely to remain with the team long term.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage pre-award vendor sourcing, vendor negotiations and contractor management / vendor performance management for a wide variety of field services and exploration contracts.
  • Act as owners representative in contract negotiations with site preparation and earth-moving vendors
  • Negotiate change orders, claims and scope inquiries
  • Manage progress payments and approvals
  • Track project budgets and schedules for contract portfolio
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers and construction / site managers to ensure vendors are completing work to schedule and to required quality levels.

Requirements :

  • University level degree ideally in engineering or construction management disciplines.
  • 6+ years of experience working in a project environment, ideally within an EPC environment.
  • 6+ years of experience working in Mining, Construction, Oil & Gas etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in contract administration / contract management
  • Feasibility study / exploration project experience and asset
  • Exceptional communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Customer service focused approach to contract management
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills

Rewards :

$70 / hr target rate.
