JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
REGIONAL SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT MANAGER, St. Catharine’s, Ontario.
Sunbelt Rentals of Canada Inc. is the fastest growing rental business in North America- now seeking a Regional Safety, Health & Environmental Manager to support our exciting growth in Southern Ontario.
As a Regional Safety, Health & Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for managing all safety and health activities of the region and assigned business growth within the region.
You will be working within a team of safety professionals across north America and specializing in manufacturing environments.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Inspect and audit worksites for deficiencies and safety violations and ensure all deficiencies and violations are corrected in a timely manner.
- Train and coach team members on hazard avoidance, injury reporting, injury management; that injured employees receive necessary medical attention.
- Manage injuries for best possible outcome and to avoid OSHA recordable treatment.
- Ensure all accidents / incidents are reported, in a timely manner, to the appropriate personnel including the Safety Director, Branch Manager, Regional Manager and Client contact.
- Ensure all accidents / incidents are investigated and corrective action to prevent reoccurrence has been developed, reported and actions implemented.
- Assist in accident / incident investigations
- Assist the Safety Director in the management of worker’s compensation claims.
- Make safe work policy and procedure recommendations to the Safety Director for consideration.
- Ensure all assigned business units are prepared for and successful in all compliance requirements including : Fire and building inspections.
Safety audits, Environmental and OHS visits and other site compliance inspections.
- Establish strong relationships and support the business management with accurate and concerns or issues they may have with Customers, ensuring their concerns / issues are resolved.
- Support the PC’s to ensure the safety of the new hires, through leadership coaching and employee training
- Lead workers with the development Job Safety Assessments (JSA) for work with moderate to high exposure.
- Promote the overall safety culture, developing the workforce awareness of our Engage For Life work culture with your advanced leadership competencies.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- High School Diploma, Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety is highly valued.
- Specific discipline safety training may include incident management / investigations, MOL Safety, CPR / First Aid, Hygiene, Ergonomics
- Minimum 5 years construction safety experience and / or formal safety training (i.e. : CRSP, CHSC, or similar combination of experience and continuing education.)
- Senior leadership experience with above average communication skills.
- Additional experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, materials handling, equipment operation and / or Transportation Safety experience are considered an asset.
- Candidate must be able to travel and holds a valid passport and Ontario drivers license.
The physical demands of this role may require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, occasional lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors / outdoors is required by the job.
