BECOME A WHEELCHAIR DISPATCHER!
The Wheelchair Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing the efficient deployment of wheelchair services throughout the airport.
This role involves scheduling and dispatching wheelchair attendants to assist passengers with mobility challenges, ensuring timely and effective service.
You will monitor flight schedules, passenger needs, and attendant availability to optimize resource distribution and response times.
Additionally, the position requires maintaining clear communication with airport staff, attendants, and passengers to facilitate a smooth and supportive experience for those requiring assistance.
WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK AS A WHEELCHAIR DISPATCHER
- Coordinate the dispatch of wheelchair services throughout the airport terminals
- Respond promptly to requests for wheelchair assistance from airline personnel and passengers
- Manage the scheduling and routing of wheelchair attendants to maximize efficiency
- Track the availability and location of wheelchairs and mobility equipment
- Maintain clear communication with airport staff, including gate agents and customer service representatives
- Provide training and guidance to wheelchair attendants on proper handling and safety protocols
- Handle passenger inquiries and concerns related to wheelchair services
- Maintain records and logs of wheelchair dispatches and assistance provided
- Collaborate with airport security and medical teams in case of emergencies
- Oversee the maintenance and readiness of wheelchair equipment
- Liaise with airline and airport personnel to streamline wheelchair service operations
- Prepare reports on service metrics, challenges, and improvements for management review
- May be assigned other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documents
- Ability to use electronic devices including IPads / Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
- Effectively communicate both in-person and through electronic means
- Must be able to pass a background check, and able to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
- Ability to work any day / shift, including holidays, within a 24 / 7 operation
- Must attend every day of pre-employment training. All prospective agents must pass training to continue on with employment

depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
Airlines are 24 / 7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
