Java Developer - Contract

We are seeking a highly skilled developer with experience in Core Java, database management, and application / server-side development to join our team.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development and enhancement of Market Risk applications in a fast-paced environment, working within an Agile squad that operates across multiple locations including Montreal, Budapest, India, London, and New York.

The role involves collaborating closely with business partners and shaping the technology landscape of Risk Management to meet regulatory requirements.

Knowledge of distributed computing, high-volume data handling, and process optimization will be advantageous

Responsibilities

Develop and enhance Market Risk applications as part of a global Agile team.

Collaborate with colleagues and business partners across Montreal, Budapest, India, London, and New York to deliver solutions that meet business needs and regulatory obligations.

Optimize data handling processes and improve runtime efficiency.

Contribute to the technology landscape of Risk Management, introducing tools and solutions that enhance business processes.

Follow Agile principles and DevOps practices to ensure efficient and streamlined development cycles.

Implement new features, maintain existing applications, and ensure system stability and performance.

Write unit test cases and ensure the code follows established coding standards.

Qualifications

Required Skills :

5+ years of hands-on experience with Core Java (server-side), Spring, and relational databases (RDBMS).

Strong expertise in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.

Solid understanding and experience in building multi-threaded applications, with hands-on experience in concurrency packages.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience with distributed data processing pipelines using tools such as Spark, Hive, and Python.

Familiarity with unit testing frameworks (e.g., Junit).

Strong expertise in relational database logical modeling and optimized querying of large datasets.

Ability to write scripts using Shell, Perl, or Python.

Agile development experience.

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work independently while adhering to coding standards.

Nice to Have :

Experience in risk or financial systems development.

Familiarity with automated testing frameworks.

Experience with Apache Spark.

Summary

Our client operates across Canada. This company takes all reasonable measures to limit the number of positions in Quebec that require knowledge of a language other than French and only requires this where it is necessary, and its existing bilingual employees are unable to fulfill these job duties.
