Job Summary : This position is for a licensed Industrial Electrician with expertise and experienceprimarily in facility & automation controls with knowledge in automotive systems.
The position will include the assembly & testing of electrical equipment, physicalsetting up of customer properties for testing, and supporting vehicle or other relatedtest properties.
Thisposition will also include troubleshooting facility and equipment issues, reviewingapparatus for electrical safety, performing planned maintenance, unplannedmaintenance and equipment calibration.
Responsibilities & Nature of Work :
- Coordinate routine electrical shutdown & related activities
- Diagnose & troubleshooting of electrical systems
- Support management of electrical material, equipment and electrical lab space
- Assembly of small electrical apparatus
- Customer support for test objects (install / remove wind tunnel equipment and / or vehicle parts)
- Procurement of material required to support projects
- Support other ACE members in assembly / testing of electrical apparatus
- Lead special projects where applicable
- Support personnel who operate ACE test systems (wind tunnel, main fan, rolling road, dyno )
- Lead electrical reactive and preventive maintenance tasks with sub-contractors
- Support facility electrical requirements for clients’ test objects
- Identify opportunities for improvement to electrical facilities
Additionalresponsibilities may include design and assembly of electrical apparatus, developinginnovative ideas, improving existing systems, creating, designing, building,mentoring students, and supporting research and development.
The markets includeautomotive, architectural / civil, defense, media, human performance, humanfactors, aerospace, UAV, and other opportunities in an ever-expanding number ofmarket segments.
ACEis a multi-shift operation that include afternoons and weekends. The candidatemust be flexible and prepared to work periodic afternoon or evening shifts andirregular hours as operational needs require.
There may also be occasionaltravel requirements. Facility operational hours are from 8 am to 12 : 00 midnightwith core day shifts from 8am to 4pm and other period shifts including 4pm-12midnight or 12 noon to 8 pm (Monday -Friday) but occasionally may includeweekends.
This position requires that employees be physically present on-site.
The candidate must demonstrate professional behaviour at all times when dealing withcustomers, management and co-workers.
Must have clear, concise and accuratecommunications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dressmust be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to selfor to others.
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving andcommunicating in a professional manner.
Required Skills & Experience :
- 5+ years experience as an Electrician
- Knowledge of local suppliers of Electrical material, protective equipment and related services
- General knowledge of automotive parts & functionality
- Strong knowledge of Programming Logic Controllers, Computers & Networking
- Strong technical & mechanical aptitude
- Good customer service skills and aptitude
- Good communication & organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Trustworthy self-starter that can work independently with reduced supervision
- Willing and able to follow all safety policies and procedures
- Willing and able to work with Engineers & Client
- Possess a valid driver’s licence
- Eligible for Government of Canada Controlled Goods Certification
- An equivalent combinationof education and related experience may be considered.
Required Education :
- Completion of a 3-year Post secondary college diploma
- Red Seal Electrician
- 442A Licenced Industrial
- 309A Construction Electrician Designation (optional)
