Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team. The successful candidate will teach a range of practical skills and theoretical courses to students who are registered in the various Electrical Skilled Trades and related programs, listed below, in the School of Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship :
- Electrical Techniques (1-Year Certificate)
- Electrical Engineering Technician (2-Year Diploma)
- 309A Electrician, Construction and Maintenance Apprenticeship
- Dual Credit Electrical (Secondary School Students)

Sheridan professors are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering course curriculum in classroom and / or online, which includes ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques;
- Ensuring that course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices, changes in the Canadian Electrical Code, and updates to occupational health and safety regulations;
- Tutoring and academic counselling of students, while evaluating student progress / achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within assigned courses;
- Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
- Developing multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies in support of the hybrid platform of Sheridan’s electrical skilled trades programs, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the learning process for an immersive online learning experience for students;
- Attending periodic faculty meetings.

The successful candidate(s) will also meet the following qualifications :
- Licensed Electrician (Trade Code 309A or 442A) OR Interprovincial Red Seal Construction / Industrial Electrician;
- 5 years experience as an electrician in the field;
- Availability to teach daytime, evenings and / or weekends;
- Experience programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLC) is an asset;
- Experience with electronics, instrumentation and motor control preferred;
- Applicants must demonstrate mastery of current materials, tools / equipment and industry practices;
- Must have in-depth knowledge in, experience with interpreting and applying the Canadian Electrical Code;
- Formal studies in adult or higher education an asset;
- Experience with Learning Management Systems, especially the D2L platform, is an asset;
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry preferred;
- Network of contacts with other professionals and companies in the electrical industry.
