The opportunity
The Finance / Tax and Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Partnership Operations Group.
The role reports to the Director of Partnership Operations and supervises three colleagues. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who is able to balance competing priorities, with team-oriented approach to leadership and supervision.
In this role, you will oversee all recurring accounting / tax processes, implement internal controls, oversee the performance and growth of team members, complete relevant administrative tasks, and support the executives in special projects.
This is a role that is highly reliant on detail orientation and confidentiality.
Your key responsibilities
- Assist in the management of the Partnership Operations Team, including ongoing coaching, training and assignment of tasks
- Provide basic personal and professional corporation tax assistance to the partners of the Firm
- Manage and comply with provincial and federal government reporting requirements and related tax filings.
- Assist with and manage the preparation of tax reporting slips and supporting schedules
- Understand full cycle mid-month and review all aspects of all monthly and year-end processes including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Manage and assist in the development and maintenance of accounting and Partnership files and records
- Respond to accounting and tax requests and inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Generate and provide accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.
- Support the Executives in special projects for both internal and external stakeholders, including forecasting and modelling of pro forma and historical data and reporting

To qualify for the role you must have
- Professional accounting designation, CPA
- Completion of the CPA In-Depth tax course
- Have a minimum of 7 years of progressive financial management experience with a minimum of 4 years of experience working in the tax department of a public accounting firm providing services to CCPC’s, or the equivalent experience in business or industry
- Have broad exposure to federal income taxation
- Possess strong financial modelling capabilities
- Demonstrated detail orientation with high level of accuracy in generating quantitative and qualitative analysis, and strong organization and prioritization skills
- Effective time management skills and flexibility to work with changing priorities, ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment
- Self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong computer literacy skills with Microsoft Office and advanced level Excel skill
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficient at building relationships with multiple levels of stakeholders, both external and internal
- Comply with all confidentiality policies of the Firm and applicable regulatory authorities
