Paralegal / Legal Assistant - Corporate and Real Estate

Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant / Paralegal to support two lawyers in Corporate Records and Transactions, as well as Real Estate Transactions.

This smaller firm fosters a positive environment with opportunities for substantial responsibility and autonomy.

Responsibilities :

Real Estate Conveyancing :

  • Perform land title searches and manage real estate lending tasks.
  • Prepare various forms and documents using established precedents and templates.
  • Assemble outgoing document packages and record books for courier delivery.
  • Answer and direct phone calls; respond to email inquiries.
  • Communicate directly with clients as needed.

Corporate Transactions and Records :

  • Assist with the formation and governance of corporations and partnerships.
  • Prepare documentation for commercial transactions, including changes of ownership or management, M&A, joint ventures, amalgamations, and dissolutions.
  • Conduct due diligence reviews of corporate records and prepare rectification resolutions.
  • Perform and review public searches in connection with due diligence matters.
  • Execute various BC Online searches.
  • Edit and format correspondence, agreements, reports, forms, and spreadsheets.
  • Coordinate the execution and collation of transaction documents.
  • Manage closing documents and prepare digital closing books.

What We’re Looking For :

  • Experience in Corporate Transactions, Corporate Records, and Real Estate Conveyancing.
  • Completion of an accredited LAA program; completion of a Paralegal program is an asset.
  • Strong technical and formatting skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with legal applications, including ALF, Microsoft Office Suite, and MyLTSA.
  • Experience with PCLaw is an asset.
  • Tactful with good judgment when handling confidential and sensitive matters or direct client communications.
  • Strong team player with collaborative, communication, and interpersonal skills; comfortable working on group projects.
  • A commitment to producing high-quality output and maintaining a high standard of client service, with a client-centered and business-minded approach.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.

Compensation & Perks :

  • Working Arrangement : 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home after probation.
  • Salary : $70,000 to $75,000 per year.
  • Extended Benefits.
