The Opportunity
Altis Recruitment is searching for a talented and experienced Analytics & Model Governance expert to join a leading financial services firm in Canada.
In this crucial role, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the AML Compliance team by leveraging your analytical expertise to identify trends, assess risks, and optimize compliance models.
Key Responsibilities
- Take the lead on model and data governance for Canada Compliance.
- Utilize your analytical skills to collect, aggregate, and visualize customer, product, and transaction data to uncover trends and potential risks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, oversee, and refine data, model, and rule tuning exercises for compliance models, ensuring effective model governance.
- Design and enhance MIS reports used by senior management to monitor the ongoing effectiveness of compliance models.
- Translate qualitative risk factors into data-driven models using innovative technologies.
- Investigate and analyze root causes of issues related to compliance applications.
- Manage rule configuration and day-to-day operations of compliance software.
- Partner with internal teams to develop and test tools, systems, and upgrades that adhere to regulatory expectations.
- Leverage your knowledge of economics, quantitative analysis, and statistics to develop automated processes.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging analytical techniques and data sources relevant to risk mitigation.
You're a Perfect Fit If You Have :
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in data analytics or a technology / systems-related role.
- Prior experience in AML, Sanctions, or other compliance areas, particularly with data management and compliance models, within a regulated financial institution is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- A passion for achieving results and a persistent drive to meet objectives.
- Familiarity with Canadian AML regulations and guidelines is a valuable asset.
- Experience with data analysis and model governance technologies (e.g., databases, analytics tools, reporting tools, Azure).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
- A high level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
- Familiarity with RegTech solutions and industry certifications are considered advantages.
The Work Environment
- This is a hybrid role with a minimum of two days spent in the office.
- The position requires the ability to handle time pressure, multiple demands, and a high attention to detail.
Education
Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline
Nice-to-Haves
- Oracle (PL / SQL), MS SQL Server, R, Python, PowerBI, Excel, or Azure
- ACAMS certification
- Familiarity with RegTech
