CSG is excited to be supporting a key client in their search for an Assistant Geology Superintendent . Following the commencement of production this year in one of their key deposits, this position will play a key role immediately and throughout the lifetime of their mining operations.
The mine will become one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines.
Assistant Geology Superintendent
The position will report to the Manager of Exploration & Geology, the Assistant Geology Superintendent is responsible for supervising, mapping, data analysis and reporting of in-pit production activities while ensuring accuracy.
The Assistant Geology Superintendent will assist with designing and managing the in-pit RC grade control drilling program.
Primary responsibilities include :
- Support the Manager - Exploration & Geology while working in a production team to deliver the maximum ore grade to the Process Plant through accurate identification of mineralization, optimal ore classification and supervision of extraction
- Supervise in-pit geological mapping and data analysis for both grade control modeling and geotechnical evaluation
- Ensure accuracy of production dig line mark-ups
- Supervising and reporting of in-pit production
- Assist with designing and managing in-pit RC grade control drilling program
- Monitoring and evaluation of geological and assay data quality; monitoring blasts with regard to geological structures
- Supervise sampling of various drills and evaluation of assay data quality
- Supervise update of grade control database, block model and design of ore blocks
- Maintain databases and analyze data for production and reconciliation purposes
- Reconcile mine versus mill figures and mine versus reserve and resource figures
- Ensure all mine geology department activities follow health and safety policies and laws
What are we looking for?
- Demonstrated proficiency with mining software. Experience with Datamine, Deswik and Leapfrog would be considered an asset.
- Thorough understanding in the efficient use of geological instruments, techniques and interpretation of data
- Self-motivated and safety conscious
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Candidates must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
- Degree in geology or related.
- 8+ years related work experience, preferably in an open-pit gold mining environment
