Position Summary
Sonographer, Ultrasound, Medical Imaging
Your goal in this position is to perform examinations in the imaging modality of ultrasound and provide excellent patient and family centered care in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner.
You also have great interpersonal and communication skills, and you effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families.
This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and / or transforming care through research and innovation.
This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers , learners, patients and families.
On a practical level, you will
- Perform all ultrasound imaging examinations
- Ensure imaging equipment is in proper working order and necessary supplies are on hand
- Record and compute supply inventory for assigned area
- Correlate history, physical findings, lab reports, etc., with examinations required
- Work under pressure in a quick and efficient manner
- Demonstrate excellent clinical and technical skills
- Work effectively with the imaging team
- Operate all the equipment in the ultrasound area
- Assist in training ultrasound students
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized sonography program from an accredited institution. This training is in addition to any previous Para-medical certification
- Current registration with the CMRITO is required
- Current registration with Sonography Canada is preferred
- You ideally have a strong medical imaging background
- Minimum one year as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer preferred
- Hospital experience an asset
- Bilingualism in French / English is an asset
