Based at our Vancouver location near Venables Street and Clark Drive, the Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing and performing preventative maintenance servicing on commercial transport trucks.
The majority of our fleet includes Class 8 vehicles, namely Kenworths, Peterbilts and Internationals with Paccar engines.
Reviewing work orders and evaluating repairs are also important tasks of the role.

The position reports directly to the Fleet Maintenance Foreman and is a full-time, permanent opportunity.

ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Service our commercial fleet vehicles (Kenworths, Peterbilts and Internationals with Paccar engines)
- Inspect engines in operation, road test vehicles, and test automotive system and components
- Use computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to accurately diagnose and isolate faults
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions on all preventative maintenance services
- Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems including chassis, frame, cab, body, engine and drive train, air brakes, steering, and fuel, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems using other hand tools / equipment
- Review and discuss work orders with supervisors, and signing off repairs performed
- Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups
- Work with equipment such as vacuum pumps, hydraulics, and fork loaders
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE :
- Ability to work afternoon shifts preferred (additional shift premium offered)
- Must have a valid British Columbia Journeyperson Commercial Transport Vehicle Certificate or an interprovincial Red Seal Certification equivalent
- Preference given to those with a valid Class 3 Driver’s License
- Current British Columbia Commercial Vehicle Safety Inspection License or ability to obtain CVIP preferred
- 3 years of experience in commercial truck repairs or similar environment or industry
- Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance
