Role Summary
Provide material handling services by driving a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Qualifications / Requirements
- Grade 12 education or equivalent and work experience,
- Certified forklift Operator,
- A working knowledge (written and oral) of both English and mathematics,
- Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform safety checks and fill out inspection sheet daily,
- Ensure all inspection sheets are properly submitted daily,
- Ensure that material is stored in designated locations when available,
- Ensure all damaged containers are removed and reported to the appropriate line leader / supervisor,
- Maintain first in first out (FIFO) material handling principles,
- Work as a team with other material handlers to ensure the most efficient material flow,
- Minimize travel time with the forks empty,
- Ensure downtime due to material handling is minimize,
- Remove all tags and bar codes label before loading on work station,
- Team Player
- Commitment to continuous improvements and workplace safety,
- Work safely and within the guidelines of the Deco Employee Handbook,
- TS16949 awareness and adherence,
- ISO14001 awareness and adherence,
- Lean Manufacturing and 5S concepts awareness and adherence,
- Other duties as may be required.
SAFETY PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS :
- Accepts personal responsibility to plan and conduct their work safety in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as company policies and guidelines.
- Responsible for good housekeeping in your area.
