Airswift is seeking a Contracts Specialist to work with one of our clients in the oil and gas industry in Calgary, AB on a 12-month contract.
As a Contract Specialist for the Sustaining Capital team you will perform a range of procurement and contracting duties including developing contractual strategy in collaboration with the Business Unit representative, including preparing RFXs documents and conducting them ensuring all legal requirements are met, evaluating and awarding contracts drafting contracts and working with project managers to administer active contracts.
Ideal contract specialists should enjoy drafting and editing contracts, demonstrating excellent attention to detail abilities.
In addition to being an excellent communicator, you should also possess in-depth proven experience in all phases of the contracts lifecycle, contract agreements, and legal terminology.
The Contracts Specialist will work independently on assigned contracting tasks with general guidance from the Lead Supply Management.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities :
Facilitate acquisition of engineering and construction goods and services : RFXs (EOI, RFI, RFQ, RFP) scheduling; noticing;
assembling RFxs documents; pre-bid meetings and bid openings; and preparation of agreements.
- Manage contract development through all lifecycle stages (draft, revision, approval, filing, and closeout), ensuring that insurance, and legal requirements are met and internal processes and records are maintained.
- Prepare contractual agreements using knowledge of a client's needs and ability to fulfill its requirements, being able to use the most effective compensation model for a given scope.
- Ensure that the terms of contractual agreements written in language that is legally binding and in accordance with the desires of the Business Unit
- Administration of active contracts to identify, notify and ensure completion and compliance with all deliverables in collaboration with project managers and responsible parties.
- Understanding of the variables driving cost in the scopes of work being managed in order to successfully negotiate proposals and change orders
- Assess contractor performance to identify the need for amendments of existing contracts.
- Professional interaction with colleagues, contractors, Business Unit and other stakeholders of the process.
Contract Specialist Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Legal studies or related field
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement, sourcing, contract documents, and legal specifications.
- Outstanding interpersonal and expert research, listening, and collaboration skills.
- Outstanding analytical skills to make effective decisions
- Superior customer service, being able to resolve client complaints and concerns .
- Legal knowledge, understanding of contract law, being able to discuss the agreements and their ramifications with legal professionals
- Ability to identify, analyze, and suggest solutions for problems, customer complaints, and client concerns
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an impeccable mastery of the English language
- Good organization skills and the ability to multitask on several projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of negotiation best practices, both in-person and in written form, that considers cultural norms and the company best interests
- Knowledge and management of union agreements, understanding the impact to compensation
