Position Summary
Transporter, Emergency Services Program
Your goal in this position is to contribute to the organization and optimal function of the Emergency Department working with the Emergency physicians, registered nurses and ward clerks to provide support to patients and patient care staff.
You will be also responsible for contributing to patient flow and enhancing patient family centered care in the Emergency department.
You have good verbal communication skills, ability to work within a team and fast paced environment. You are able to establish and maintain patience, compassion and a courteous manner in relationships with patients, families, and co-workers.
This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and / or transforming care through research and innovation.
This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.
On a practical level, you will
- Transport patients to medical imaging and in-patient floors
- Transport laboratory samples and specimens to the lab
- Respond to emergency situations
- Observe and adhere to all policies and procedures, work standards and safety regulations
- Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Experience required in continuous heavy lifting, processing of documentation through use of computers

This is a Part Time Regular position, 8 hour shifts, weekends only shifts (day / evening / night), every other weekend, in the Emergency Department.
