About the Opportunity

On behalf of our client, a growing professional services company, we're excited to be hiring for an Accounting Manager. This role offers a great opportunity to join a company at a key moment in its growth, with the potential to advance into a Controller position and, in time, even oversee regional operations.

As the Accounting Manager, you'll be wearing a few key hats : handling financial reporting (40%), managing and guiding the accounting team (40%), and ensuring compliance (20%).

If you enjoy a mix of hands-on work and strategic oversight, this position will allow you to make a significant impact while positioning you for growth alongside the company.

What You'll Be Doing

1. Financial Reporting (40%)

  • Drive the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and conduct performance analysis.
  • Collaborate on budget planning, forecasting, and assist in tracking operational performance to identify and report on key variances.
  • Handle statutory reporting and compile data that keeps the leadership team informed and on target.

2. Team Leadership & Management (40%)

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and provide mentorship to a small, close-knit team.
  • Ensure a smooth monthly and annual closing process, including journal entries, invoicing, and reconciliations.
  • Develop and implement strong internal controls, partnering with Operations to create efficiencies and reinforce best practices.
  • Manage corporate credit card programs and work collaboratively with accounting staff at other company locations.

3. Compliance & Control (20%)

  • Lead audit preparation for year-end and support any government audits, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Stay on top of local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
  • Help resolve any accounting discrepancies and maintain data quality throughout all reporting.

What We're Looking For

  • Education and Experience : Degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance, with a CPA designation (or currently in progress) being a strong asset.
  • Professional Background : At least 3 years of experience in senior-level accounting, ideally with some team management experience.
  • Knowledge & Skills : Solid grounding in IFRS standards is essential, along with a strong background in governance and internal controls.
  • Other Assets : Public company experience is a plus, as is any familiarity with the professional services sector.
  • Personal Qualities : Strong organizational skills, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to think strategically.

What's Next

This role is a stepping stone, designed to evolve with the company's growth and allow the successful candidate to take on additional responsibilities as they're ready.

With significant expansion on the horizon, this position will likely progress into a Controller role, with opportunities for regional oversight in the future.

How to Apply

If you're interested in joining a growing company and building a meaningful career, we'd love to hear from you.
