As the Senior Accountant - Shared Services Finance, you will report directly to the Corporate Controller and will primarily support in the consolidation and corporate accounting of the Company's shared services - including Finance, Legal, People, Data, Information Technology, Infrastructure, and Information Security teams.
The role will be integral in facilitating the monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles including account reconciliations and acting as a payroll / HR liaison along with supporting the larger finance functions encompassing other BUs.
This is a hands-on position.
This is a 21-month contract position with opportunity for a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities :
- 25%, support the day to day accounting support for key parts of the TCX operations.
- 35% support the month-end close and reconciliations process, including payroll audits, Salary and benefits adjustments, vendor accruals, managing prepaid schedule, posting amortization and depreciation, P&L analytics.
You will work alongside internal partners to obtain information required to accomplish this.
- 10%, provide end-to-end accounting support for subsidiaries within Tucows group of companies.
- 10%, primary support for HR and month-end payroll entries.
- 10%, interface with external auditors to support quarterly reviews as well as year- end audit deliverables.
- 10% Conduct ad hoc account analysis as required and communicate key insights to support departmental efficiency and / or key business decisions.
Qualifications required :
- Accounting designation, preferably CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA
- 2+ years Accounting experience (Technology and Telecommunication industry experience is an asset).
- Experience in a fast paced, computerized, multi-company, multi-currency environment.
- Hands on experience with month-end financial package preparation, budgeting, and year-end functions.
- Strong reconciliation skills and understanding of accounting concepts.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and / or IFRS
- Advanced knowledge in the use of Excel, including complex formulas and financial modeling techniques.
- Technically savvy, with an ability to learn new systems (ERP / BI systems) and use system capabilities. Sage Intacct experience and / or experience with dimension based G / L would be a plus
- A proactive self-starter with outstanding work ethics who is capable of taking initiative, balancing work, and keeping commitments all with a positive demeanor.
- Maintain the highest standards of accuracy and precision; excellent attention to detail, result-focused, highly-organized and resourceful.
- Excellent communication (written and oral), ability to effectively convey information to various levels of the organization in a clear and concise manner.
- High energy, friendly, collaborative, and team oriented individual.

The base salary range for this position is $62,000 to $75,000. Range shown in $CAD for Canadian residents. Other countries will differ.
