THE JOB : Manager, Provincial Initiatives

The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.

Starting Salary Range : $92,077 - $115,096

Reporting to the Director, Provincial Payments & Innovation, the Manager, Provincial Initiatives responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of innovative strategies that deliver on the two pronged approach of transforming primary care and sustaining family practice.

The Manager directly oversees a team and leads high-profile strategies from inception, to implementation, to expansion planning in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

This position provides strategic leadership and decision making to achieve common goals with senior executive level stakeholders from the Ministry of Health, Health Authorities and health sector organizations, academic institutions and the Divisions of Family Practice.

Using a high degree of business and political acumen, this role is responsible for executing plans, on time and on budget, that have province-wide impact and visibility for the profession, including primary care strategy redesign, innovative care coordination and after hours coverage initiatives, clinic infrastructure development, and multi-stakeholder provincial forums to enablelarge-scale health system change.

The Manager is responsible for overseeing and delivering on strategic project plans and frameworks, as well as developing effective documentation that enables a comprehensive understanding of the evolving Patient Medical Home model of care, Primary Care Networks, and it's impact on family medicine.

The Manager provides leadership, mentorship and supervision to team members and effectively works across a diverse portfolio to strengthen longitudinal primary care and further the strategic direction of the FPSC work plan and Mandate.

WHAT YOU BRING

A Bachelor’s or graduate university degree and / or recognized professional designation, and up to six years of progressive and related experience;

or an equivalent level of related work experience in lieu of post-secondary education.

  • Knowledge of health regions, current issues and trends is required and experience working with health authorities, facilities and physicians is preferred.
  • Proven ability to collaborate significantly with peers organization-wide and access guidance only when critically required.
  • Strong skills in diplomacy, conflict resolution, presentations, communications, facilitation and relationship building.
  • Strong problem solving skills, ability to identify issues and provide expert advice to achieve broader organizational results.
  • Previous success working highly autonomously while practicing discretion and judgment.
  • Responsible for making decisions on performance, and hiring for the team.
  • Effective at coaching and mentoring, using a strength-based approach to develop employees
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing landscape while meeting project deadlines and deliverables as position has direct impact on the team and may impact the entire organization.
  • Experience with stakeholder relations and managing teams in complex systems.
  • Project and budget management experience, including experience with planning, evaluation, performance measurement, and change management strategies.
  • Effective writing skills and proven ability to develop clear and concise communication
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC based software, particularly Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Valid drivers’ license and car, along with willingness to travel BC and be flexible accommodating evening meetings, overnight stays and home based working.
