Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta, serving the education needs of approximately 17,750 students in 42 schools.
Every day, the staff and students of EIPS are encouraged to pursue opportunities to grow and discover their passions in life.
We pride ourselves on providing staff and students with the tools to achieve success by offering dynamic programming, current resources, and practical professional learning opportunities.
Open to : Internal and External candidates. Those teacher candidates, who are already approved EIPS substitute teachers, are to submit their change request for consideration via the Certificated Sub Preferences Update eForm (Subjects and Levels section and / or Locations section) in their online Atrieve profile instead of applying to this new job posting.
EIPS is recruiting multiple positions for the Substitute Teacher casual on-call 2024-25 for our two colony schools.
All students attend German school before and after regular English school hours and on Saturdays. Students attend English school until their fifteenth birthday, and then move into a colony assigned position.
Due to the nature of the colony, literacy and numeracy are key areas of focus. Some of the regular school programs and activities are either altered or adapted to match the Hutterian culture / philosophy.
All students enter school as English Language Learners, as German is their first language. For most of the students, school is their first significant experience with adults from beyond the colony.
Mission
Our mission is to achieve educational excellence in preparing students for change and future challenges within the culture, structure and beliefs of the Hutterian Society.
Beliefs
We believe that the mental, physical, social and emotional well-being of every student is critical. We believe all students should be provided with a secure environment and with learning opportunities that are conducive to growth and development within the Hutterian culture / community.
We also believe that the education of the child is the responsibility of the parent, school, the child and the Hutterian community.
When working together we are best able to achieve our common goal of developing the potential of each child.
