You are a team player committed to community. You will plan and instruct art classes for adults and children. You will be working in a creative environment utilizing your leadership and people skills, developmentally plan appropriate activities while maintaining a safe environment to engage students to expand their interest in art.
You are an excellent communicator with a positive, energetic and enthusiastic attitude.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- In-depth knowledge of techniques and processes in your art medium
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and supervisory skills
- Proven ability to create and implement lesson plans
- Ability to build a rapport with students, parents of students, and staff
- Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Candidates must have a degree or diploma in Visual Arts or 2 years of Visual Arts education and related experience. Some previous teaching experience will be considered an asset.
All instructors working with children must have a current Standard First Aid certificate and HIGH FIVE : Principles of Healthy Child Development training (available online through BCRPA).
All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. $24 - $26 / hour based on training & experience.
Hours may vary and instructors should be prepared to work days, evenings and / or weekends at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.
