The Environmental Compliance Reporting Manager is responsible for preparing and submitting, in accordance with prescribed timelines, Regulatory compliance reports required under applicable environmental laws and regulations and other compliance requirements established and specified in Air Canda's Environmental Management System.
This position will also be providing day-to-day support and technical expertise in the development and delivery of regulatory programs.
Responsibilities : Prepares and submits federal and provincial regulatory reports such as but not limited to NPRI, Federal Fuels Regulation #1, Federal and Quebec halocarbon release reports, GHGRP, RDOCECA, PCB reporting, products containing mercury and other information to the regulatory agencies.
Manage regulatory programs reporting related to air emissions compliance obligations including ICAO Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme, the United Kingdom Emissions Trading Scheme and others.
Supports assessment of regulatory requirements Conducts quarterly reviews of data to ensure regulatory compliance Documents and submits reports and information to the regulatory agencies and participates in external verification as needed.
Supports the Climate team and the Climate Data Analyst in assessing and projecting potential eligible SAF use and emissions reduction unit requirements to meet compliance obligations and Air Canada's Climate objective.
Work with the Environmental Affairs subject-matter experts and data owners to collect, track, and assess data and information for regulatory program reporting.
Assist in the development and delivery of environmental compliance programs as assigned. Provides day-to-day support and technical expertise to Branches, at the station level, in understanding regulatory compliance requirements and implementing environmental programs.
Supports the revue and assessment of new regulatory requirements in Canada and internationally. Supports in preparing and submitting response to Notices of Violation, media inquiries, adverse publicity, claims, impending enforcement actions, complaints with potential adverse consequences, agency inspections, etc.
As per scheduled rotation, provides 24-hour coverage / availability to respond and manage environmental emergency issues on a local basis and aids the applicable station Emergency Response Team.
Ensures all policy and program documentation is maintained up to date within requirements of the EMS. Continually maintains a high level of professional proficiency and knowledge of environmental matters, regulations, technologies, and developments.
Share good practices and problems / lessons learned with Branches, colleagues. Qualifications University degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences or equivalent.
Minimum 4 years experience in related GHG management, environmental reporting, environmental project management, or pertinent aviation experience.
Knowledge of current environmental legislation, regulations, and related industry best practices. Knowledge and understanding of the GHG emissions calculations.
Knowledge of GHG regulatory and voluntary programs and standards (RDOCEDA, GHGRP, EU ETS, UK ETS, CDP, TCFD, GRI, EcoVadis, ISO-1 / -2 / -3, etc.
an asset. Knowledge of Environmental Incident Response an asset. Must have excellent communication, data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
Strong ability to prioritize tasks and excellent time management and organizational skills. Must have excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrate initiative and be able to work independently. Commitment to quality and pride in work, patience, and perseverance.
Must be a team player with ability to work closely with diverse groups and working styles. Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours, when required.
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally approximately once a month. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Power BI,).
Environmental Professional Designation an asset.
