Role Summary
Sun Life Retail Advice & Solutions (RA&S) is one of the leading financial institutions that offer Canadians holistic advice and solutions including insurance, wealth and health.
Reporting to the AVP, RA&S Strategy, the Director, RA&S Strategy will be responsible for supporting the evolution of the business strategy to enable RA&S in achieving sustainable competitive advantage, growth and profitability.
They will collaborate cross functionally and design strategic initiatives to enable the business strategy. They will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with senior executives and Client facing stakeholders to deliver direct and tangible impact.
What will you do?
Support driving RA&S Leadership team strategic agenda to reflect current and forecasted business environment
Drive 5-year strategic planning process collaborating with business partners, RA&S Finance and Canada Strategy team
Support facilitating strategy sessions, workshops with RA&S Leadership team and partners to dynamically track and adapt strategy
Develop strategic roadmap and identify execution implications by working with Business Architecture team to determine business planning implications and strategic business capabilities required in the medium term horizon
Maintain awareness of key market and competitive trends, developments
Identify competitive trend implications to RA&S business
Effectively communicate insights to executive level audiences
Review strategic issues and new opportunities to design initiatives and roadmaps
Collaborate with business partners to conduct fact based analysis, provide decision support and establish business cases
Tailor verbal and written communications based on audience and situation
Independently drive and execute strategic projects
Partner with Canada Strategy team to work on projects that have cross business unit implications
Build business acumen and expertise to support delivering impactful strategies
What do you need to succeed?
Minimum 10 years of relevant business experience, ideally within insurance, wealth management or financial services; knowledge of Sun Life’s businesses would be an asset
University degree in business or related discipline; MBA or other relevant advance degree is an asset
Owner’s mindset with the ability to independently deliver on projects with appropriate judgement
Demonstrated experience working with senior stakeholders
Results-oriented project management skills; well organized, with a high attention to details
Resourceful and rapid learner, able to work across many topics and domains
Ability to interpret data analysis results, and writing reports / presentations to executive audiences
Strong knowledge of distribution, wealth and / or insurance space
Strong creative and analytical problem solver, with a solid background working with data, conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis
Management consulting experience would be an asset
