Your key responsibilities
- Assist clients in responding to federal and provincial audits and strategically advise clients on the the various options and steps in resolving tax disputes
- Prepare notices of objection and written representations to the federal and provincial tax authorities
- Assist with the litigation in resolving tax disputes, including court appeals, judicial review applications, and other administrative processes such as voluntary disclosures, taxpayer relief applications, ruling requests, and remission orders
- Assist with the preparation of legal opinions with respect to the tax consequences of transactions and performing post-transaction audits for tax efficacy and litigation risk.
To qualify for the role you must have
- The ideal candidate will have 4+ years’ experience with income tax, sales tax, and other taxes
- Prior tax litigation experience is an asset
- Preference will be given to candidates who have strong foundational knowledge of Canada’s income tax, sales tax, or other Canadian tax systems.
- The candidate should be a member in good standing of the Quebec Bar
- This role involves interaction with clients operating nationally and globally where fluency in French and English is required.
Bilingualism in both French and English is therefore a requirement of this role.
