The Opportunity
This is a rotating shift, permanent / full-time, union position, with a Machinist 429 license requirement.
Shift Pattern :
- 1 week rotating shift
- Monday to Friday
- Day Shift : 7am to 3 : 15pm
- Afternoon Shift : 3pm to 11pm
Position Description
The Horizontal Boring Mill Operator / License Machinist is responsible for preparing and adjusting machining equipment and operations for CNC devices such as boring, milling, turning, and drilling, in addition to utilizing other standard machine shop tools with minimal oversight.
- Independently prepare machining setups and toolings on CNC machinery for various operations including boring, milling, turning, and drilling, in addition to other standard equipment found in machine shops.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, manually input data to create programs, and make adjustments to CNC programs as needed.
- Conduct quality inspections of the machined items using the proper Inspection, Measuring, and Test tools.
- Engage in the ongoing enhancement of machining processes, such as improving tool life, and optimizing surface speeds and feed rates.
- Perform cleaning and deburring processes following machining operations.
- Adhere to stringent standards for dimensional tolerances and surface finish quality.
- Exhibit excellent collaboration skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Proven track record of reliable attendance and maintaining a safe working environment.
Experience
5 years of machining experience with CNC Horizontal Boring Mills, CNC Lathe, CNC Mills.
Qualifications
- Must have Machinist 429 license and Boring Mill experience
- Recognized and applicable apprenticeship completed
- Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Strong math skills, especially as it pertain to measurements (ie : fractions and decimals)
