Accountabilities : How You Will Make An Impact

The Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls Engineering (Electrical I&C) Department is currently growing to respond to the needs of our nuclear portfolio including OPG, Bruce Power, New Brunswick Power and Cernavoda, among others.

We are looking for highly motivated a Project Engineer / Analyst to :

This position provides project execution support for multiple projects of varying complexity. In this role the candidate will perform project engineering functions for design engineering projects including :

Development of task order quotation and or full-length proposals Prepare project design plan and project schedule incorporating task logic and duration to determine project critical path and float at task level Engineering project management to ensure project is being executed to plan as well as scope and budget control Project risk management and issues tracking / resolution interface with the client to assist them with project requirements, metrics, and reporting Manage and co-ordinate technical support of multiple projects simultaneously Ensure work is completed to required technical standards Coordinate with Work Management, Supply Chain, Trades FLM's, Engineering, Operations, Safety, Waste Management, Environment and other stakeholders to assist implementation of projects from concept through execution, commissioning and return to service Liaise with staff, contractors, consultants and vendor resources as appropriate Ensure project documentation is updated throughout project life-cycle in compliance with client procedures and expectations.

Coordinate Constructability, Operability Maintainability and Safety (COMS) review meetings Other duties as assigned

In addition to project engineering functions, the candidate is expected to be involved in design projects and carry out activities that can include : Design assistance with technical evaluations, and design walkdowns I&C design for special safety systems and major process systems Equipment specification and selection for neutronic and process instruments Control and monitoring computers and digital controllers, including PLCs Transient response, control strategy and tuning, and calculations for instrument uncertainty Software categorization, validation, and verification for computers and digital equipment Modeling and software development for nuclear operator training simulators High and low voltage electrical design services including electrical equipment, distribution system and cable system design, equipment specification and selection, electrical protection, and electrical system analysis.

Perform Digital upgrades; Plant process computer upgrades; Security computer upgrades and Physical Security Upgrades

Interface with construction / procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.

e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.

  • Provide field support to multi-disciplined plant design modifications, including provision of field engineering.
  • Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.
  • Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting / engineering to support refurbishment projects and operating unit (capital) projects.
  • Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Stay current with developments within their field of expertise.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management required. Experience in project engineering and controls, scheduling in a project driven environment with the capability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and within project constraints (time, cost, quality), nuclear industry preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical / l&C, Engineering and / or Engineering Physics. Masters Preferred.
  • A Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for PEO status, preferred.
  • PMP status preferred and an asset.
  • Bruce Power and / or OPG Security Clearance preferred and an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize assigned work and to coordinate multiple activities efficiently
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and to quality assurance requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in preparation of reports, proposals, recommendations and presentations for internal and external clients.
  • Knowledge and implementation of client Engineering Change Control.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards is desired, along with a strong understanding of and commitment to meeting superior quality assurance requirements
  • Working knowledge of Nuclear Quality Assurance Standards such as N299 and CSA N286
  • Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of station customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be team player.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize assigned work and to coordinate multiple activities
  • Flexibility to perform work over a wide range of areas for both operating and refurbishment facilities
  • Working knowledge of the systems at a nuclear power plant, solid knowledge of nuclear power plant engineering change control process is an asset.

Knowledge and / or experience with CANDU nuclear technology are considered an asset.

  • Experience with field execution of designs is an asset
  • Experience in procurement engineering is an asset
  • Experience in solving problems, providing advice and guidance, making recommendations during the design, commissioning and operation of a nuclear facility.

Strong leadership skills and high degree of accountability and engagement.

  • Excellent written and oral communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • A high degree of initiative, self-motivation, flexibility and the ability to work with minimal guidance in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines and heavy workloads.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively with others by developing trust, mutual respect and co-operative working relationships.
  • Shift work and Overtime work may be required.
