What’s the role?
As an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic you get to work with an astonishing team that plays a vital role in Carl Zeiss Vision.
Show case your skills and experience with process enhancement.
Handles safely trouble shooting, diagnostics and equipment repair and maintenance. Handles installation, repair and maintenance of the facilities and equipment.
Ensures uptime of the equipment to allow for the safe and efficient operation of Carl Zeiss Vision Canada Inc. lab operations while ensuring adherence to preferred maintenance practices to maximize efficiency and safety.

Here’s what you’ll do :
- Plans, schedules and conducts machinery preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on the shift; reports equipment performance effectively to team members for seamless shift handover.
- Works within a team-oriented environment communicating and prioritizing departmental workflow to comply with management and production objectives.
- Communicates effective preventative machinery practices with operators, leads, supervisors and management, making continuous improvement recommendations for improved equipment longevity.
- Communicates with equipment manufacturers for troubleshooting and replacement of parts needs for problematic equipment.
- Evaluates the frequency of the preventative maintenance activities by aligning with the equipment demands, makes recommendations to keep the PM systems efficient and effective.
- Analyzes equipment failures and makes recommendations for future downtime avoidance.
- Trains personnel on PMs, troubleshooting and safe operation of new and existing equipment functions.
- Handles equipment installations and removals using safe rigging procedures.
- Adjusts and calibrates equipment and machinery to specifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Do you qualify?
- 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright license and / or industrial Electrician 442a)
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a licensed Millwright.
- Post-secondary diploma or high school diploma or technical trade license.
- In depth knowledge and troubleshooting of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics and electronics encompassing automated systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals, electrical / hydraulic schematics and ladder logic diagrams to understand equipment and controls operations.
- Experience with Windows, Microsoft office / excel and SAP.
- Robust computer skills.
- Ability to interface at multiple levels and operate within cross functional teams.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Experience with automation integration and troubleshooting.
- PLC programing knowledge and trouble shooting.
- Highly self-motivated, committed team-player with the desire to learn.
- Valid G driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Excellent analytical, decision making, people and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Knowledge of Optical Rx Lens manufacturing machinery and equipment a plus.
