What does this role involve?
The Senior Structural Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services to large and small projects.
Activities include site investigations, rehabilitation designs, and development of new structural support concepts for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multi-discipline projects.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to :
- Undertake structural analysis and design tasks for a variety of complex mineral processing or heavy industrial structures,
- Work on Canadian and international design projects,
- Take responsibility for the production of structural design deliverables including Reports, Specifications, Drawings, Analysis Models and Calculations Packages,
- Undertake field reviews of existing structures and structures under construction,
- Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, and designers,
- Work collaboratively with project teams and co-workers in multi-disciplinary,
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior staff working on their projects,
- Work with other disciplines in and across the global offices,
- Assist with proposals and estimating of work-hours and fees,
- Assist Design Managers with reporting on design progress.
About you :
To be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated, well organised with the ability to manage multiple work fronts in a busy environment.
You will be able to think out-of-the-box and be the driver to find innovative solutions.
- Bachelor in Structural engineering - or Civil Engineering with a Structural Focus
- Over 5 years of experience in the field of structural engineering in Mining, Mineral Processing or Heavy Industrial (Preferably in North America)
- Professional Engineering license (P.Eng) desirable
- Good communication, interpersonal and Organizational skills,
- Experience in design of Concrete and steel structures - Vibration analysis and experience with large rotating equipment preferred
- Detailed knowledge and experience in the application of local and national codes and other legislative requirements,
- Experience and ability in the seismic design of structures, ideally with experience in performance-based design and seismic retrofits,
- Ability to perform 3-D structural analysis (Linear and Nonlinear),
- Familiar with structural & engineering software like SAP2000 and Mathcad

Salary range in BC : $115,000-175,000
The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
