The Role
As our Senior General Accountant , you’ll take charge of leading a dynamic accounting team and managing a diverse range of financial responsibilities.
In this position, you’ll be reporting directly to our CEO on financials related to AR, AP, tax filings and compliance (CA and US).
The best performers in this role will have exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities, in addition to a proven track record of effective communication.
Specifically, you will :
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries, intercompany reconciliation and consolidation
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements
- Review and monitor compliance with all accounting and financial internal controls
- Provide benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of departments
- Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
- Oversee direct reports from the accounting coordinator and bookkeeper / accountant
- Oversee payroll processing for Canadian & USA operations
- Review & finalize commission workings for sales & service account managers
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial and federal reporting requirements
- Overseeing grant submissions and amortization of assets
- Knowledge of ERP computer systems would be considered an asset
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, accounting, finance or similar
- Must have a CPA / CGM designation or in progress
- 2 – 5 years’ experience in a progressive accounting role (including Canadian AR / AP, taxes, and month end statements)
- Demonstrated 1-2 years’ experience in a financial leadership role in Canada
- Proficient with QuickBooks (QBO) or other accounting software programs
- Proficient with MS Office and expert level in Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with US tax and payroll would be considered an asset

This is a full-time, permanent role working primarily out of our Vaughan location with eligibility for hybrid accommodations after 6months.
