Your Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management : Guide, manage and motivate the technical team towards achieving internal and external goals.

Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.

Strategy Development : Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with Essential Wins, Director of Technical Services and Elanco Canada’s policies and procedures.

Oversee and ensure FA technical team strategically supports global and affiliate marketing teams and is appropriately involved in future Elanco Canada innovation projects.

  • Performance Management : Monitor team performance, support development, provide feedback, to position FA technical team as best-in-class in the industry.
  • Technical Expertise : Provide technical guidance and support to the team. This includes troubleshooting complex issues with team members and staying current with the latest industry and veterinary trends.

Support and direct the TC team in relationship building with key opinion leaders, veterinary schools, and key accounts.

  • Technical Customer Support : Support external customers, handle technical inquiries on products necessitating veterinary expertise such as off label indications, technical discussion on products / clinical cases and sharing approved studies as needed.
  • Resource Management : Liaison and work with the marketing team to ensure the TC team remains prioritized in their support and execution of marketing projects and activities.

Coordinate the planning, execution, and monitoring of clinical trials for marketing purposes. Support and direct technical team involvement in FA launches and future innovation.

Training and Development : Direct and support the creation of cohesive onboarding and ongoing training plans for ruminant and monogastric sales teams.

Provide or support technical product and disease state training to customers, channel partners and sales team.

Communication : Act as a core member of the marketing, commercial and technical trilogy for brand and account planning.

Interact with Internal and External customers with the goal of understanding and meeting their needs. Involve the Veterinary Products Support Team (VPSC / PV) in reporting adverse events and / or product complaints following the SOP guidance and provide support for investigation as required.

What you need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications) :

  • Education : Veterinary degree or Nutritional PhD; practicing veterinarian license within one of the Canadian provinces is required for Veterinary Technical Consultant.
  • Experience : Two years' experience in management / leadership position and / or practice owner. Must be a results driven leader, able to manage a highly skilled and knowledgeable team with a high degree of customer focus.
  • Two years veterinary field experience in ruminants and / or poultry species (practice or commercial experience).
  • Strong and effective communication and interpersonal abilities as well as proficient presentation skills.
  • Excellent English (both passive and active) with computer literacy on MS Office, MS PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Valid provincial drivers’ license.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications) :

  • Work experience as technical consultant is a positive attribute.
  • Strong interest in coaching and passion for developing people.
  • Organizational skills : ability to manage multiple different tasks daily.
  • Bilingualism (English / French).

Additional Information :

  • Team lead management with 5 or more direct reports.
  • Potential of occasional field time, 3-5 days per month.
  • Anticipated field and travel requirements will vary based on regional need, time of year and candidate’s home location.
