JOB SUMMARY :
The Instructional Designer is responsible for the planning, design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of training and development programs including curriculum content, training materials, digital experiences and job aids aligned with Hydro Ottawa’s Training Delivery Strategy and associated frameworks.
The Instructional Designer is also responsible for identifying, developing and implementing training solutions that leverage technology-based learning in order to enable and drive efficiencies, performance and meet safety, legislative and regulatory compliance.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with subject matter experts and internal and external stakeholders to conduct training needs analysis and determine training requirements
Develop learning objectives and structure learning activities for the effective development and implementation of training
Research new and innovative curriculum development practices
Apply instructional design methodologies in the creation of learning experiences and assessments
Design and develop engaging learning experiences (on-demand, blended, experiential) for storyboards, scripts, curriculum content, training materials, e-learning modules and job aids to support various learning need using a variety of learning technologies
Ensure the effective implementation, evaluate the effectiveness post implementation, and make recommendations for improvements
Develop recommendations for future programs and / or revisions to existing programs to ensure the overall quality of training programs and initiatives
Manage service agreements with external partners
Maintain training materials, program guides; ensure latest versions are referenced
Perform other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary education in a related field preferably with a focus on Instructional Design, educational technology or adult learning
Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles
Current and relevant knowledge of instructional design process
Experience with immersive, digital and mobile- enabled learning technologies
Experience managing projects and implementing change
Strong computer skills; proficient in the use of office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably G Suite, as well as Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise, Replay)
English essential, both oral and written; bilingualism (French / English) or other languages considered an asset
Experience in delivering training or instructing considered an asset
This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
