Work environment

The RCMP E Division Headquarters is located in beautiful Surrey, B.C.at 14200 Green Timbers Way. We are situated near the heart of downtown Surrey, near Skytrain and transit.

This large headquarters houses several of the integrated operations, senior management and corporate services to support the priorities of the RCMP in British Columbia and the Yukon.

E Division RCMP provides federal and provincial services throughout the province and policing to all but 12municipalities.

Positions in corporate services range from working in Human Resources, Finance, Assets & Procurement, Information Management, Security, etc.

Positions in operational environments may include supporting traffic services, occupational safety, federal policing, major crime or specialized policing services.

Intent of the process

This inventory will be used to staff positions at RCMP E Division Headquarters at 14200 Green Timbers Way, Surrey, BC.

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future permanent or temporary vacancies in similar or lower-level positions.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.

Experience :

Significant* experience in providing administrative support in an office environment.

Experience in using word processing software such as Microsoft Word.

Experience in using spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel.

Significant* experience means depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of duties over a period of approximately 6 months.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Experience providing budget or financial support services such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial accounting or cash management.
  • Experience using a financial management system such as SAP or TEAM.
  • Experience using a human resources management system such as PeopleSoft or HRMIS in the performance of duties.
  • Experience providing administrative support in a policing environment.
  • Experience using police databases such as PRIME, CPIC, JUSTIN, etc.
  • Experience providing court-related or legal administrative support services.
  • Experience using databases for both data entry and data extraction

Conditions of employment

Security clearance / reliability is a condition of employment. Various levels of security clearance / reliability is required for these positions, including some positions requiring Top Secret clearance.

Some positions being staffed require travel and / or work off-site.

The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security / reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit / financial status, education, employment, etc.

As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

To be granted RCMP security clearance and to maintain the ethical standards of the RCMP, candidates must not be, or have been, involved in certain criminal activities, have been dishonourably discharged, have pending personal bankruptcies, etc.

Depending on the requirements of the position(s) being staffed from this process, for current or future vacancies, any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be applied at the time of staffing.

Candidates may be contacted and assessed against these criteria at any time during this process.

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board.

A person may be appointed to the position even though he / she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs.

However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.

This process and the resulting pool will only be used to staff positions in the RCMP.

Incorrect or fraudulent information provided by a candidate during the application or assessment process will result in elimination from the process.

Experience qualifications will be assessed upon application. Further confirmation or assessment may be conducted through reference checks.

Those selected for assessment should be prepared to provide the names and contact information of recent references (recent is defined as within the last 2 years) :

References must be available, have an in-depth knowledge of your work / projects, and must be able to answer specific questions pertaining to your experience, achievements and strengths.

References that are not reachable and / or not available are lowering the candidates’ chances to be found fully qualified and be considered for appointment.
