Position Description :
The laboratory logistics,inventory, and safety specialist (LLISS) maintains adequate inventory, recordsof inventory, distribution of materials, including records of costs and pricingfor all items of clinical and technical laboratory inventory and equipmentrepair, maintenance and service.
Plans for and maintains quantity and qualityof all supplies & equipment used within the George Brown College Prosthetic& Orthotic Programs (GBC P&O).
Key Responsibilities :
- Responsible for obtaining manufacturer quotes, ordering, receiving, storage and distribution of all reagents, supplies, consumables, equipment, parts, paper, forms, and any other inventory item(s) related to the operation of the clinical and technical laboratory and learning spaces.
- Maintains an efficient system of inventory control to ensure proper levels of supplies in the laboratory available for distribution.
Maintains adequate stocks of inventory while allowing for no wastage of inventory, reagent, or product due to poor management or shelf storage expiration.
Establishes and maintains Materials Requirements Planning (MRP).
Initiates, coordinates, and follows up on all equipment preventative maintenance and emergency service in all operational service areas of the clinical and technical laboratory and learning spaces including office equipment, computer equipment, and all other miscellaneous equipment.
The LISS shall keep and maintain all equipment repair and maintenance records ensuring that all equipment maintenance occurs according to schedule as required.
- Distributes information regarding the availability of supplies and other pertinent information to all GBC P&O faculty and peer leaders.
- Responsible for identifying actual and potential workplace hazards, inspecting the workplace regularly, being consulted about and being present at the beginning of health and safety related testing in the workplace, making recommendations to the employer about health and safety in the workplace, participating in investigation of work refusals, inspecting the site of a critical injury or fatality at a workplace, and obtaining health and safety related information from the employer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educationaland Experience Requirements :
OSSD and a two-year college diploma, preferably from the GBC Prosthetics & Orthotics technical program, or Business / Medical Office Admin program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Other applicable education will be considered.
Minimum of two years’ technical / ordering / stock experience and lab maintenance experience in a busy Prosthetics / Orthotics environment.
Experience in the larger prosthetics and orthotics facility is preferred.
Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office in Word, Excel and Outlook, and ordering / inventory software strongly preferred.

- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 23 kg or 50 lbs.
