Job overview :
We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Worker to join our team. As a Sheet Metal Worker, you will be responsible for fabricating, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and structures, such as ducts, roofing, siding, and custom metal components.
The ideal candidate will have experience in metalworking, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work with a variety of tools and machinery to produce high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities :
Fabrication & Assembly : Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to fabricate custom parts, ducts, roofing, flashing, siding, and other metal structures according to project specifications.
Installation & Repair : Install sheet metal products such as HVAC ducts, roofs, and siding on job sites. Repair and replace damaged metal structures as required.
Blueprint Interpretation : Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the design and dimensions of metal components.
Use of Tools & Equipment : Operate hand tools (e.g., snips, shears, hammers, riveters), power tools (e.g., drills, grinders), and machinery (e.
g., brake presses, welding equipment) to shape and assemble metal pieces.
Welding & Joining : Use welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, arc welding) to join metal parts and ensure a solid and secure structure.
Inspection & Quality Control : Inspect completed work for precision, quality, and safety standards. Make adjustments or corrections as needed to ensure a perfect fit.
Workplace Safety : Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to prevent accidents. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Collaboration : Work closely with other tradespeople, contractors, and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and to client specifications.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting : Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Requirements :
Education : High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in sheet metal work is preferred.
Experience : 2-4 years of experience as a sheet metal worker or in a related trade, with hands-on experience in fabrication, installation, and repair.
Technical Skills : Proficiency in working with various sheet metal materials (steel, aluminium, copper) and tools (cutting, shaping, welding, and joining).
Blueprint Reading : Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to ensure accuracy in fabrication and installation.
Physical Stamina : Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, lift heavy materials, and stand for extended periods.
Problem-Solving : Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during the fabrication or installation process.
Attention to Detail : High attention to detail and precision in cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components.
Communication : Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members, clients, and supervisors.
Safety Awareness : Knowledge of safety protocols, including the proper handling of tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
